About Rock Island, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Rock Island, Illinois is a thriving community on the Mississippi River. Found about 175 miles west of Chicago, Rock Island is part of the Quad Cities – a region with about 400,000 residents that also encompasses Moline and East Moline in Illinois, as well as Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa. On its own, the population of Rock Island is approximately 40,000, and major employers include Rock Island Arsenal and UnityPoint Health. Higher education is also available in Rock Island at Augustana College or the Bible Missionary Institute.

As a major city in the region, there are plenty of places to visit in Rock Island. Many visitors enjoy pressing their luck at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel, while nature enthusiasts may prefer a warm spring afternoon at the Quad City Botanical Gardens. The Rock Island Arsenal Museum and the Mississippi River Visitors Center are also popular destinations for visitors, and local restaurants include Huckleberry’s Great Pizza and Calzones and Soi 2 Thai Street Food.

Climate controls are necessary throughout the year, as Rock Island weather conditions vary with the seasons. Summer weather here is hot and muggy, and average daily high temperatures reach well into the 80s. Oppressive humidity levels can be difficult for certain residents to handle, especially people with asthma and other respiratory conditions. Fortunately, the right central air conditioning system can cool indoor temperatures while also improving air quality.

Winters in Rock Island offer dramatically different conditions. While snowfall is moderate at only about 30 inches per year, temperatures are cold. In January, average daily highs reach just over 30 degrees Fahrenheit, while daily lows fall to only around 14 degrees. Historically, many Rock Island residents have used window A/C units, but central air conditioning is now preferred. In addition to better cooling capabilities, central air conditioners provide aesthetic advantages, as they are inconspicuous and mostly self-contained outdoors.
