About Orion, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The village of Orion is located in Henry County, Illinois. A small community with only about 1,900 locals, Orion primarily serves as a residential village, although it is also the transmission site for many TV and radio stations within the Quad Cities. It was laid out in 1853 and went by the name Deanington until 1867. Despite the community’s small size, Orion does operate its own school district, which includes one elementary, one middle, and one high school.

There are several interesting places to visit in Orion despite the community’s small size. Orion is home to two locations that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places with the National Park Service – the Central Park Music Pavilion and the West Water Tower. Residents have several fast food options available – including Pizza Hut and Subway– but local flare is also available at the Maple Street Grille. For bigger attractions, residents need only drive about 16 miles to Davenport, Iowa, which is home to the Figge Art Museum and the Putnam Museum and Science Center.

Orion is considered part of a humid continental climate. Winters here are cold and windy, with snowfall likely between the months of November and February. Each year the region receives about 30 inches of snow, and while average daily highs climb to about 31 degrees, low temperatures plummet to about 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to the potential for dangerous conditions, Orion residents appreciate the need to periodically evaluate their home heating systems, as a reliable gas or electric furnace is a winter weather necessity.

Summers in the region are hot and humid, with average highs extending into the 80s from June through August. Central air conditioning systems are increasing in popularity in the region, far outnumbering window units. These systems allow for more comfortable conditions indoors, as they provide consistent cooling with less noise than loud window units.
